A man was charged after authorities say he abandoned his daughter when he fled from deputies during a traffic stop.
According to Travis County Sheriff's Office, a deputy observed a Mitsubishi pickup traveling without headlights at night. The deputy stopped the vehicle in the 8500 block of Hidden West Blvd.
The driver later identified as 33-year-old Mario Escobar exited the vehicle and proceeded to run. As Escobar proceeded to run, a 7-year-old girl, identified as Escobar's daughter, exited the vehicle.
APD helicopter was called out to search for Escobar but was canceled after he was not found.
Escobar's daughter was picked up by a neighbor and taken home.
Escobar has been charged with abandoning or endangering a child, a third degree felony.
