Voter registration closes Oct. 9

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday is the final day votes can register to participate in the presidential election.

In Travis County Monday, voter registrar Tina Morton made one final push to get people registered.

She says the county hopes to register at least 650,000 voters for the November 6th election and this year nearly 63-thousand new voters will take part.

Morton says registering to vote can be as easy as stopping for lunch

"All of the Thundercloud Subs will be registering people right up to the deadline, right up to midnight tomorrow night," said Morton.

Morton says 80 percent of eligible voters are registered in Travis County, the highest rate of all metropolitan counties in Texas.

To register head to one of the five tax office locations by Tuesday, mail an application that is postmarked by October 9, or going online if you've moved within Travis County.
