Vandalized crosses follow up

Posted: Updated:

Austin, (TX) - Vandalized roadside memorials in North Austin are replaced.

We first brought you this story two weeks ago.

Vandals destroyed four crosses representing victims of drunk driving.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving or MADD will replace the white crosses.

They got the call several weeks ago that they were cut in half.

MADD says the victims' family members called them to let them know crosses were 'cut in half' near Parmer and Mopac.

The memorial marks the place where Round Rock couple Donald Cox, his wife Colleen, and Jocelyn Diaz and her boyfriend Gareth Davies lost their lives.

Police say a woman was drunk when she hit them head on.

George Walker with walker construction donates his time and money to making the crosses.

Although, he wishes there weren't a need to build these crosses.

He says he's honored to do it.

"It's actually a good feeling to know that I've made a cross that is honoring the victim for those that are living, the family members, friends and family members," said George Walker with Walker Construction.

Walker says he donates his time to making the crosses.

If you would like to help the cause he suggests you donate to mothers against drunk driving.
