A Leander daycare shut down without notifying parents or employees.
Parents and staff showed up to the Sunshine School Monday morning to see that the doors were locked and the director was nowhere to be found.
A sign taped to the front door states that the facility is closed and that folks will be contacted in a few weeks to handle any outstanding matters.
Employees told FOX 7 there are parents that have paid in advance for childcare services. FOX 7 was also told that some of the employees haven't been paid in over a month.
"Oh what could you say? I mean they were shocked and heartbroken and we were stunned a little bit. I felt sorry for the parents to be put in a situation like that," said Angela Yanez, daycare staff.
FOX 7 hasn't been able to get in contact with the daycare's owner and neither have the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. A spokesperson says the department plans to send an inspector soon.
