An overnight accident on I-35 involving a fuel tanker has shut down northbound lanes of traffic on the interstate near Slaughter Ln Thursday morning.
The Austin Fire Department has stopped the flow of leaking fuel, but the northbound main lanes and the frontage road are expected to be closed for an extended period of time, according to authorities.
The remaining fuel in the overturned big rig has to be transferred to another tanker truck before the interstate can be re-opened.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
