Austin Police have charged a man they say is responsible for the murder of a woman who was reported missing in June.
On Monday, August 13, Eduardo Mora Hernandez was charged with Murder, a 1st degree felony, in connection with the death of Margaret Robles.
Robles' mother, reported her missing on June 14, saying she had been missing since 10 a.m. on June 13.
Police questioned Eduardo Mora Hernandez, Robles' boyfriend, in connection with the disappearance. Hernandez said he had last seen her at approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 13.
On August 10, APD responded to a call that there were what appeared to be human remains near a playground at Roy G. Guerrero Park. An autopsy was conducted on the body on August 11, and positively identified the body as that of Margaret Robles.
APD brought Hernandez back in for questioning on August 13, at which time Hernandez again stated that he spoke to Robles briefly on the night of June 13 and that he had stayed in all night. Police checked Hernandez cell phone records for June 13 and found that his phone's location for that evening was in the same area where Robles' remains were found.
When confronted with this information, Hernandez changed his story and said he left his home that evening to go running, and showed the detectives where he went. The area he led them to was the same area of the playground where Robles' remains were found. He said after he ran to the playground, he turned around and went back to the parking lot.
The detectives resumed the questioning at the office, and told Hernandez they found Robles' remains in the same spot he had just led them. Hernandez again denied having anything to do with Robles' death, but then later admitted he and Robles had driven to the park where they got into an argument. Hernandez stated that he struck her in the head, knocking her out, and then moved her body to the spot where she was found. He told police she was unconscious, but alive, when he left her and that he did not call for help because he was afraid he would be arrested.
Hernandez is being held on a $500,000 bond.
