Some very special patients at Dell Children's Medical Center are wearing hope close to their hearts thanks to one hospital hero.
"Let me put this on your neck," explained Dane Short as he handed an eight year old a gift.
That eight year old is Jenny Marquez and she's recovering from an operation.
"It made me feel special and it's a gift for me and it can mean anything I want it to mean," said Marquez about her new necklace.
Short visits patients like Marquez at Dell Children's and shares his company's hidden meaning necklaces with the kids. Inspired by Tom's one for one model Short donates a necklace for everyone purchased to a sick child.
The hidden meaning necklace has a story. Short's mother was doodling a few years ago and wrote the phrase 'love is all u need' and put a peace sign on top of it. She put each letter on top of the next. She sent the design off to be casted as a pendant for a necklace. Dane and his sister discovered every letter in the alphabet hidden in the symbol.
This year Short started sharing the symbols with patients. One day he hopes to take the hidden meaning symbol necklaces to all of the children's hospitals across the country.
