Woman found in park called murder

Posted: Updated:

We're learning more about a body found in a downtown Austin park Friday morning.

On Saturday, Austin Police say the woman was murdered.

Now they need your help finding the person responsible.

Police say 34 year old Valerie Louise Godoy, a homeless woman, suffered blunt force trauma.

They're not saying exactly what kind of blunt force trauma.

Police have no suspects or motive.

On Friday around 7:30a.m., an APD officer discovered Godoy laying unconscious near a bench.

He called EMS.

They pronounced her dead on scene.

Police say a food truck that gives food to the homeless made a stop at Duncan Park Thursday evening before dark.

They believe someone who saw that food truck might have seen Godoy and possibly what happened to her.

"At this point and time, we don't any suspects, we're just asking for any help to try and determine her whereabouts throughout the night and if anyone may have seen her with anyone else to please come forward," said SGT. Scott Ehlert, Austin Police Department.

Although, Godoy was homeless, police say she has family in the area.

If you have any information or saw anything, call police.
