Atlanta Weather Forecast - Tuesday

Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

TYPICAL SUMMERTIME PATTERN REMAINS IN PLACE

Labor Day may mark the unofficial end of summer, but Mother Nature didn't get the message!  The hot and humid air mass will stay put and will support daily, scattered thunderstorms - mainly between the hours of 1pm-9pm each day.  For today, it will be partly cloudy with highs running above average for early September (average high is 86, we'll reach 92).  The chance of rain today through Monday of next week will be about 30%-40% each afternoon.  While we don't see the support for widespread severe weather for the next few days, a couple of severe storms cannot be ruled out.  Watch for gusty winds and frequent lightning.

IN THE TROPICS

Tropical Storm Dolly was named at 2am Tuesday.  Dolly has 45 mph maximum sustained winds in the southwest Gulf of Mexico in the Bay of Campeche.  This storm will spend the next day moving in for landfall in Mexico, where it will dump torrential, tropical rain.  This could lead to life-threatening mudslides in the higher terrain.
