The news of Glendale police officer Bradley Jones' death in the line of duty has shocked and saddened the Glendale Police Department.
Jones was a Glendale patrol officer for four years.
His family, friends and fellow officers were at his bedside when he died early Saturday morning after being shot in the line of duty on Friday night.
“This young officer was … just such a bright kid,” said Sgt. Brent Coombs.
“He’s the kind of guy that goes out to a call for service, and he impacts the community so much that they call and say what a nice guy he is,” Coombs said.
Jones, 27, lived in Surprise with his wife and two young children -- both under the age of 6.
Coombs said colleagues called Jones “the kid next door.”
The last Glendale police officer to be killed in the line of duty was Officer Anthony Jon Holly in 2007.
