Enterprise, research, report, shoot and edit news stories on a daily basis, emphasizing creativity and originality. Deliver the news in a conversational, credible style. Tell compelling stories, and have excellent live shot abilities. Cover stories and disseminate information over multiple platforms, including television, social media, mobile devices and the internet. Prior experience as a digital journalist/television news reporter. College degree preferred in communications related field. Strong command of English language; working knowledge of libel laws and generally accepted journalistic ethics. Must have social media savvy as well as traditional media. Must know how to use digital tools – cameras, iPads, editing software, cloud servers – to gather information. Must be a highly creative, motivated self-starter and be a team player. Must exercise good judgment. Must be able to carry and set up equipment. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Must have a good driving record.
Set up and shoot interesting stand-ups and live-shots. Create strong visual story-telling images. Work with reporters as a team. Two to three years experience as news photographer/editor at affiliated broadcast station. College degree preferred in related communications field. Must be creative and a quick learner. Must be a team player and have good journalistic skills. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Good driving record required. Must have ability to carry and set up camera, tripod and other related equipment. Must be able to set up live remotes, including carrying cable reels and pulling cable for live shots. AVID editing experience strongly preferred. Additional skillset of writing, posting to social media, working on assignment desk preferred. Ability to work flexible shifts required.
SR. WEB PRODUCER
Work closely with Editorial team to manage all production/quality aspects of Station's digital platforms. Conceptualize/produce creative material, with emphasis on curating local/social content. Coordinate and supervise digital content producers. Perform duties of on-line writer/producer, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial gathering. Facilitate the editorial gathering of local web news, gleaning information from various sources and contacts and reproducing the above material into strong compelling material. Supervise and work with editorial staff on HTML, JSP, FLASH and Photoshop. Interface with Editorial managers and supervisors from the Broadcasting side of newsroom to create a cohesive working atmosphere. Ensure Web sites are coded to standards consistent with web style guides set by National in-house team. Bachelor's degree plus 3-4 years of web production management experience. Expert knowledge of web production, traffic reporting and ad serving systems. Solid understanding of web standards, design and usability. Knowledge of common web and application architectures. Knowledge of print and broadcast newsroom standards and styles. Understanding of user on-line behavior. Highly skilled in all areas of a/v digitizing, editing and encoding techniques. Advanced knowledge of Internet publishing software and content management systems. Position demands excellent print/web writing, web editing, interface design and web production skills. Handle multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously in a strict deadline-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills. Must possess great leadership and training skills, having the ability to evangelize multimedia and multiplatform, gaining involvement throughout Station. Ability to work under pressure as a cohesive member of a team.
Operate our SONY ELC automated newscast system. Have knowledge of production switcher, DVE and other sources used during live newscasts in a director/td setting. Work closely with newscast producers to ensure a clean on air newscast. Shoot video, create graphics and edit video for newscasts from various sources. General understanding of television news operations and video/photography techniques. Previous experience as an editor and director are required. Must have ability to shoot video and create graphics. Knowledge of newsroom computer systems as well as newscast production. Creative, energetic self-starter. Good people skills. Team player. Must be able to work weekends and various shifts.
Operate production switcher, DVE and other sources during lives newscasts in a Dir/TD setting and alone. Work closely with newscast producers to insure a clean on-air newscast. Work with floor crew to assure shots adhere to guidelines. Operate production switcher, DVE and other sources during projects for the News, Promotions or Sales Departments. Degree in RTF or Communications with a concentration in television production. 2 years directing experience in a live newscast environment. Experience with automated news production systems a plus. Good working knowledge of all production systems, including robotics, audio and graphic systems. Overall knowledge of television production. Strong leadership and people skills. Must be able to work various hours and shifts. Must be able to carry a pager and be on-call on a rotating schedule.
Represent KTBC and MyFOXAustin.com to local advertisers. Develop new-to-station and web business. Maximize billing on existing account list. Write, prepare and deliver sales presentations to advertisers. Negotiate business with agency buyers. Cultivate new-to-station advertisers through cold-calling and aggressive prospecting. Prior media sales experience required and television sales experience preferred. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with One Domain, Scarborough, Wide Orbit and CMR is a plus. Excellent people skills. Good driving record.
Anchor assigned newscasts. Report as needed and assigned. Anchoring duties may include live field anchoring and other special events. Be an energetic, effective, clear communicator when telling and selling a story. Must be good at research and conducting live interviews. We need someone who can think on their feet and handle breaking news as well as live interviews. We are looking for someone who is not always tethered to scripts. Minimum of three years experience reporting and anchoring. College degree preferred in communications related field. Strong command of English language; working knowledge of libel laws and generally accepted journalistic ethics. Must exercise good judgment. Must have extensive, proven anchoring/reporting experience in television news. Must be a highly creative, motivated self-starter, team player and newsroom leader. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Must have a good driving record. Schedule includes anchoring weekends, reporting three days a week.
