Chicago's Most Wanted Luis Macedo

It's been more than a year since Cook County prosecutors charged 22 year old Luis Macedo with killing 15 year old Alex Arellano. Chicago police found his body in the walkway of an abandoned house in the 3000 block of west 54th place in May of 2009.

Investigators say Arellano, a Bowen High School freshman, was walking down the street with his girlfriend when he was approached by a couple of Latin King Gang members. When asked what his gang affiliation was, police say Arellano told the group he didn't belong to one. For unknown reasons, agents say that's when the gang members began to attack Arellano. They say as many as eight other gang members joined in when the group began chasing Arellano down the street. Once he was cornered in a gang way between two houses, police say at least four gang members beat Arellano with baseball bats. He was then shot once in the head and his body was set on fire.

Macedo is the only suspect that's been positively identified and charged in connection with Arellano's murder. There are at least three other suspects Chicago police are attempting to identify. Macedo is identified as the leader of the group that killed Arellano.

Macedo's last known address is in Oak Lawn, where he has family. The FBI also checked out a recent tip that he was hiding in Kansas. Since they didn't find him there, agents are now re-focusing their search back on the Chicago area.

Agents describe Macedo as a Hispanic male, about 5' 5", weighing around 140 pounds, with dark hair and eyes. He also has several tattoos, including a tear drop under his left eye, a crown on the left side of his neck and the letters L and K on the right side of his neck.

He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
