It's Thursday...Friday is around the corner!
Friends today we are chatting about "Dress Code for Moms." Is there even such a thing? One of our male photographers told one of our female producers that she could not wear skinny colored jeans because she's a mom of two. In his opinion, Mom's can't wear certain things and colored jeans are for teens. Now this producer is barely over 30, she's cute and fashionable, her little ones are under the age of 5. Should Mom's be held to a higher standard?
Here's my take:
WILL ALL MY HOT MAMAS, PLEASE STAND UP!!!! I think a dress code for moms is ridiculous! If you have it girl, flaunt it! It is perfectly fine for a mom to rock her skinny jeans, high heels, knee boots, cute tops, pretty dresses etc. You are a mom, not dead. No matter the age, a woman should always embrace her womanhood, her sexiness, her likes and dislikes. Now with that being said---short, tight-fitting, barely there clothes need to be left to the 20 somethings. There are ways to be a fly chica, but still dress appropriately for your age. A mom can wear colored jeans and so can a teen. The difference is "how" they wear them. A teen will do a quirky little novelty tee, some flats or even tennis shoes. While a mom may wear her belted- faux fur vest, some booties, and a button down top, with some killer sunnies (Rachel Zoe talk for sunglasses) to top off her look.
I am not a mommy yet, but please believe when I am....I will be a hot mama! I give this same advice to my mom, who is in her 50's. I'm always saying "Mommy you still got it, so act like it." The women in my family always dress to kill regardless of their ages...and guess what? They are all Moms! So I say Moms, if you like it and it looks great on you, do your thing girl--who needs "mom jeans" and boring outfits! Today, I dedicate this Mary J. Blige song to you Ladies: "Just Fine"
