Torrie's Take

Torrie's Take

Posted:

Happy Thursday, Friends!

I know I said no politics on Torrie's Take, but I must talk about this Herman Cain situation! I don't care about the "politics" of it all, I'm more concerned about Mrs. Cain. Herman Cain's wife, Gloria has joined the ranks of many other political wives to publicly "stand by their man", in the midst of controversy. Granted, wives like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Silda Spitzer, and Huma Abedin (Former Congressman Weiner's wife) were in the middle of serious "cheating" scandals, but it still makes you think. Maria Shriver tried to stay-- but I guess enough was enough when she found out about a love child! So do wives owe it to their husbands to stand behind them during a public stoning? How far do you go in supporting your husband?

Here's my take:

As far as the political wives go...I suppose they feel at the time they don't have any other choice. Who knows what really goes on behind closed doors? I'm sure you have image consultants and campaign managers in your ear! Perhaps they think, "ok this is his career, our livelihood, we have bills to pay, so let me get my butt out there and stand next to him so he can keep his job!"

As for me, while I might not want a divorce....I sure as heck am NOT standing at a podium with you, looking like "boo-boo the fool" if I know for a fact that you cheated! I just think that women, in general, don't owe anything to a cheating husband.  You have already made a fool of me, so why make it worse? I know that we all need to forgive, but a cheating spouse (man or woman) deserves the judgment! I will stand by my man in that I will stay true to my vows of "for better or for worse" but don't ask me to do it with a smile on my face and pretend like nothing happened!

Let me know what you think....

Xoxo :)
