The attorney for former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky says one of the new accusations in the case is coming from a Sandusky family member.

Joe Amendola told the Harrisburg Patriot-News on Wednesday that a relative is one of Sandusky's accusers.

Amendola told the newspaper "the allegations stem from difficulties within the child's immediate family."

In a later interview, Amendola told The Associated Press that one claim stemmed from a Sandusky family dispute. He characterized the other as an example of people trying to mimic other allegations and "jump on the bandwagon."

"That doesn't surprise me because we believe there would be a number of copycat allegations, people who really maybe not even had direct contact with Jerry but (are now on board) to try to jump on the bandwagon," Amendola said.

He said the accusations, should they result in charges, would be vigorously contended.

In all, there could be at least 20 people who have come forward in the case, or who are unnamed or unknown alleged victims.

Amendola is facing criticism for allowing Sandusky to appear in a TV phone interview with NBC, which some experts believe hurt Sandusky's case.

Fox 29 and The New York Times previously reported there may be as many as 20 victims in the case, up from the 8 victims named in the grand-jury presentment.

A preliminary hearing for Sandusky, who is accused of sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period, is now set for Tuesday for Dec. 13 in Bellefonte. It was originally set for December 7.

At the hearing, prosecutors will try to show that they have enough evidence to take the case to trial.

Amendola said in an interview with ABC on Tuesday that new charges could be coming at the hearing and Sandusky could be jailed.

"My concern is if they bring new charges based upon new people coming forth, that bail's going to be set, and he's going to wind up in jail," Amendola told ABC.

Sandusky is free on $100,000 unsecured bond but he faces 40 counts related to sexual abuse of children.

A posting on a court website said the new date was meant to accommodate "logistical needs" and a media circus is expected at the courthouse.
