Prior to Arizona, Gayle was the weekend sports anchor at KEZI-TV (ABC) in Eugene, Oregon, where she covered the Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers and Portland Trailblazers.  She also hosted and produced a highly successful outdoor series called Oregon Outdoors.  In her series she showed viewers how she learned to rock climb, kayak, scuba dive, skydive, and fly fish to name a few.  This led to her hosting a national series called Great Hikes on the Outdoor Life Network.

Gayle's brother, Dr. Perry Jansen, is a medical doctor in Malawi, Africa.  Gayle created and organized a fundraising event, Assist 4 Africa, which has raised over $150,000 for her brother's medical center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, over the past few years.  Some of the biggest names in the valley have participated in her basketball and softball games.
