Man Arrested In Purse Snatching

Police say they arrested a man after he hit a woman and ran off with her purse.

According to Police, 58-year-old Rodney Cook snatched a woman’s purse after hitting her in the back of the head, while she was looking at her phone, near the Driskill on 6th Street.

The victim said she was trying to call her ride, when she felt a hard blow to the back of her neck and head. She said she fell to her knees and suddenly was pulled backward, as her purse was being pulled from behind her.

She said she watched as Cook ran off with her purse. As Cook ran down an alley, a man, who she believes was a customer at the Driskill Hotel and a security guard grabbed him. She said that Cook tried to fight them but they were able to get her purse back to her.

The security guard held onto Cook until Police arrived.

Cook was charged with robbery by assault, a second degree felony.
