A local non-profit organization wants the City of Austin to abolish extermination of honeybees and pass a no kill policy.

On Wednesday, Walter Shumocher founder of “Central Texas Bee Rescue" presented at least 900 signatures to City Council members.

He said they will likely have it on the agenda next Thursday.

Shumocher says he wants city council to abolish extermination of bees because he is worried about the human race.

"Well Einstein has a theory. He says after the Honeybees become extinct, humans will follow four years after," said Shumocher.

Last year, according to Shumocher, 2,200 bee exterminations were conducted in Travis County.

He is hoping to be the City’s first responder to remove honeybees instead of calling firefighters to the scene and he would extract them at no cost.
