Austin Police have charged Andrew Medina, 24, with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle after they say he tried to run over a man early Sunday morning.
According to police, the victim and his roommate were sitting on the patio outside of their apartment on South Pleasant Valley when they saw a group of five people going upstairs. They heard a loud bang and the sound of glass shattering.
They told police that they saw the same five people leaving the area. The victim and his roommate saw a large Hispanic female who was a part of the group head towards a truck. The victim grabbed a pen and paper from his apartment and ran towards the truck in an effort to write down the license plate.
The victim told police that the woman got inside the truck and backed it up so that it was facing him. The victim then attempted to wave his hands in an attempt to stop the truck from leaving.
That is when police say the truck hit the victim. The victim told police he did not have time to move out of the way. The victim says he gabbed onto the truck’s bug guard in order to keep himself from falling underneath the truck and getting run over.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was able to move out of the way out of the truck after grabbing the bug guard. However, when he fell, he hurt his head and elbow.
Police were able to track the truck to its owner, Medina, through the license plate provided by the victim. Investigators found the truck at its registered address in the 1600 block of Montopolis.
The owner, Medina, is a male who dresses like a female and has breast implants. He was later identified as the driver of the truck by the victim.
