Austin, TX - Sunset Valley police officers captured a man who escaped from Travis County Sheriff's Deputies early Wednesday morning. According to officers, 22-year-old Todd Zurovetz was found at a restaurant near Ben White and Manchaca.

Officials say Zurovetz was arrested Tuesday night in the 7600 block of Summervale Dr on a burglary of a vehicle warrant. Sheriff Deputies say he managed to slip his handcuffs from behind his back to the front of his body and tried to bust out a window in the deputy's car.

When the deputy pulled over to secure the suspect and call for help, Zurovetz ran out of the car. Two deputies and a Sunset Vally police officer tried to stop the man with a taser, but was unsuccessful. One of the deputies injured his back during the chase.

APD K9 , Air One, Travis County Sheriff's Office K9, Westlake Hills Police Department and Sunset Valley Police all assisted by searching the Greenbelt throughout the night and caught up with him around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning at a South Austin restaurant.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Travis County Central Booking Facility. Zurovetz has an additional charge of Escape from Custody - second degree felony, which came from when the officer was injured trying to recapture him.
