More and more Central Texas judges are now requiring convicted drunk drivers to install ignition interlock devices in their car which prevent them from driving drunk. Now, more devices are being equipped with cameras so judges know who is driving the car.
The ignition interlock devices prevent a car from starting if there is a certain amount of alcohol on the breath of the driver. The driver must blow into the device before the engine can be started.
Some of the people with the devices have found ways to beat the system. The new devices, which feature cameras, take a picture of the person taking the test. Judges can download the information and pictures at any time and know who is actually blowing into the interlock to start the engine.
