On Wednesday Austin Pets Alive held an open house at its new adoption and resource center in South Austin.
The no-kill group has been around for more than two years.
The volunteer-driven organization is responsible for saving the lives of more than 4,000 animals since they started in June of 2008.
Their director says the new center will increase the organization's stability and decrease costs associated with operating the group.
It will continue to add on to the facilities there as long as donations continue to come in. The center will be used to host adoption events and provide medical and behavioral care for the animals who are at most risk for euthanasia from the Town Lake Animal Center.
The new location is in south Austin on Manchaca near South Lamar.
