The Texas State Bobcats are preparing this week to open the season against the Houston Cougars this weekend.
The Bobcats will be trying to replace the school’s all time leading passer, Bradley George. New quarterback Tim Hawkins is preparing to begin the season as the team’s new leader.
"Yeah, it's [the season] right around the corner,’ Brad Wright Texas State Head Football Coach. ’There's gonna be a little different feel at practice today I would hope."
"I've been so ready the whole summer,’ said Tim Hawkins the Texas State sophomore quarterback. `I've been counting down the days to get out here and prove to people we are a championship caliber team."
Texas State won't play here in San Marcos until week two when they have their home opener. They will kick things off this week when they head to Houston on Saturday to face Houston quarterback Case Keenum, who led the nation in passing and total offense last year."
"This week we're gonna see how good we are at rushing the quarterback, and making plays back in the back end,’ Wright said.
