myFOXaustin - Austin twins Clarissa and Marissa Harros will be competing in the upcoming AAU Junior Olympics - an impressive feat considering they had never formally run track until this year.

South Austin Steel head track coach Gerald Smith heard about these two high-flying fifth-graders from his wife, Phyllis. The Perez Elementary school teacher saw them dominating at track and field day.

"The only credit I get is saying 'can you come out and run for us?'," said Smith.  "You have to be born into that talent. That's not something you can coach into an 11-year-old."

The Harros sisters, who will go to Paredes Middle School this upcoming school year, will compete in the 800 and 400 meter runs in the AAU Jr. Olympics in Norfolk, Virginia starting Monday, August 2.

"Yeah, I was surprised because I didn't know I could run like that," said Marissa Harros, the younger twin by a full minute.

Both siblings are surprised at their quick success in the sport, and both hope to use their athletic ability to help pay for their respective educations.

"I want to run track in high school to get a scholarship to college so I can run in the real Olympics," said Clarissa.
