While the criminal investigation continues in to the acts of suspected shooter Nidal Hasan officials also focus on helping this Fort Hood community, especially the children.
Army officials say while the day to day operations continue on post to train soldiers for deployment. They are also aware this community made up of soldiers and their families is in mourning.
This afternoon two child psychologists and specialists in disaster management are set to arrive at Fort Hood to work with the school districts, some of which have schools on post.
Col. John Rossi who addressed the media this afternoon spoke of the strength and selflessness of many of these soldiers, including Ofc. Kimberly Munley, the woman we know who stopped Hasan's shooting spree.
While the deceased are at Dover Air Force Base, they will undergo the same dignified process as soldiers killed abroad. A memorial for them is scheduled here in Fort Hood Tuesday.
In the meantime as we said army officials stressing the availability of counseling services for those affected.
“Survival outreach services are available for support in ft. hood as well as spiritual emotional installation for those who seek and need it,” said Col. John Rossi.
Army investigators have asked if there is any one who thinks they may have information that may be helpful to this investigation to come forward. As of today, 16 gunshot victims remain in area hospitals, 7 of which are in ICU. Hasan is in critical but stable condition at Brook Army Medical in San Antonio.
