On Wednesday city officials and residents from the Elm Ridge Apartments held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the complex's new renovations. The 130 low income households will be able to stay in their homes while the 40-year-old apartments undergo repairs.

The renovations are a result of a partnership between the city and Summit Housing Partners. The city council approved $2.5 million in general obligation bonds in 2009 to redo the complex.

Residents that live in the complex have an average income of $7300 a year.
