First responders in Austin were honored on Tuesday at a presentation for their work following the plane crash into the Echelon Building last month.

The Travis County Commissioners Court recognized both police and firefighters as well as the citizens that helped out during the emergency.

On February 18, Joseph Stack flew a single engine plane into the building. Stack left a manifesto that stated he was angry with the IRS which had offices in the building.

Both Stack and IRS manager Vernon Hunter were killed in the attack.

Commissioners said a quick response by emergency personnel and citizens saved many lives.
