Austin Police have charged Jaime Jimenez with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after they say he tried to rob a woman in a hotel room Saturday morning. Police say Jimenez met the woman through the adult services section of Craigslist.
According to police, Jimenez contacted the victim and arranged a meeting in a hotel room around 4:00 a.m. As the woman and Jimenez were discussing rates, Jimenez interrupted her by saying “Oh I’m sorry, this is a robbery.”
Jimenez the pulled out a knife and began looking through the victim’s belongings. He then allegedly took a prepaid credit card belonging to the victim’s mother.
Police say that Jimenez then opened the door and let in another suspect, Christopher Monk. He produced a video camera and helped hold down the victim while Jimenez placed a sock soaked in chemicals on the victim’s face. The victim said the chemicals on the sock caused her face to burn and her vision to blur.
The woman then began to call out to her friend who was hiding in the bathroom during the whole incident. The friend chased the two suspects off and the victim called 911. Within a few minutes, police had captured Monk and identified him as one of the suspects.
According to court documents, Monk admitted to police that he and Jimenez robbed the woman and were attempting to sexually assault her by drugging her with chloroform.
