Two Brothers In Jail After Police Chase

A late night prowler call for Georgetown Police turned into a short pursuit and ended with two Round Rock brothers in custody for Evading Arrest or Detention using a Vehicle. Police were responding to a report of a prowler around 2:53 am in the 200 block of Royal Drive in Georgetown when the responding officers heard gunshots in the area.
An officer responding to the call observed a Brown Ford pick-up leaving the area at a high rate of speed with their lights off. The officer turned on the vehicle believing that it was possibly involved in the incident. The truck ran a red light at the corner of Austin Avenue and Williams Drive and drove west on Williams Drive crossing the overpass of IH-35, turning right onto the frontage and heading south from Williams Drive. The vehicle entered IH-35 and continued south. Officers initiated a pursuit and the vehicle finally came to a voluntary stop just south of Westinghouse Road.
Officers believing that the vehicle was involved in their original call and the report of gunshots performed a high risk stop of the vehicle. The pick-up was occupied by two male subjects who were removed at gunpoint. The driver failed to heed the request of officers, after exiting the vehicle, and had to be tazed to be taken into custody. The other male subject was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed a Loaded Glock 45 Caliber handgun on the front seat of the pick-up. Several spent .45 cartridges were found inside the vehicle.
The two suspects- 29 year old Joey Mitchell and 23-year old Jacob Mitchell were taken to Williamson County Jail.
Georgetown Police are still investigating the incident.
If anyone has information relating to this case please contact the Georgetown Police Department at tipline@georgetowntx.org or 930-CRIME (2746). All tips are anonymous.
No officers were injured and no vehicles were damaged in the incident.
