Austin police say 21-year-old Bryce Austin Dimicelli stole golf carts from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation after the annual "Race for the Cure" event at the Domain.
According to an affidavit, a Komen Foundation representative reported the carts stolen on Nov. 2, one day after the race.
The next day, she was contacted by a witness to the theft -- the suspect's friend -- who knew where Dimicelli stashed at least one of the golf carts.
Reports show the suspect contacted this man and said he needed help moving three golf carts he claimed to have purchased from his boss. The friend told police he was suspicious.
This man met with the suspect at a construction site off Burnet near the Domain. Dimicelli wanted to take three golf carts but could only fit one on his trailer.
Both men took the cart to a home in McQueeney and left it there overnight. The next day, Dimicelli's friend contacted the construction site and learned that the carts had been stolen.
Investigators say the suspect's friend contacted police and showed them where the cart was located.
Officers talked to the homeowner who said Dimicelli told him that the cart belonged to him. The homeowner became suspicious when the suspect had to start the cart with a screwdriver.
Police say two other golf carts, both flat bed work carts, where found by construction workers near the Domain. The golf cart originally left at the home in McQueeney has not been recovered.
APD charged Dimicelli with theft -- a state jail felony. His bond is set at $7,500.
