Austin, TX (myFOXaustin.com) - It was a time for grieving at Fort Hood Friday night. The tight-knit military community gathered for a candlelight vigil to remember the victims, many are relying on each other for strength and understanding.

A few hundred people filled the stands at Fort Hood's stadium, lighting candles and singing songs of prayers after 13 of their own were killed Thursday afternoon.  Dozens more are recovering from what officials say are extremely serious injuries.  The Army chaplain asked for God's healing and forgiveness during the special ceremony.

"When you were shocked into the reality, you were able to pull yourselves together and do all the things a community does in crisis. Hold one another, take care of one another, giving first aid to one another," said Army Chaplain Carter.
