The Travis CO Sheriff’s Office has charged Cody Hudson and Dominique Watson with burglary after they say the pair stole a laptop computer from a family’s home while they slept. Police say the burglary took place early Saturday morning in Pflugerville.
Two deputies responded to a 911 call of a suspected prowler in the 20000 block of Windmill Ridge Street. When deputies spoke to the residents, they learned that a woman inside the home had heard rattling and scratching near the window. At first they believed it could have been a small animal. However, the residents saw that the screen had been removed, a gate left open, and a white Texas Tech baseball cap was on the ground. They then called 911.
Another officer located a car being driven by Watson and Hudson and stopped the vehicle. They men inside the car could not explain why they were in the neighborhood at that time nor could they provide identification.
Watson told police the car was his mother’s and at first claimed to be his older brother. When deputies contacted Watson’s mother, she informed them of Watson’s true identity and that Hudson was also lying about who he was.
Watson’s mother arrived on the scene and positively identified Hudson and Watson. She then consented to allow police to search the car where they discovered a laptop. The residents of the home later told authorities that the laptop had been stolen from their home.
