San Marcos, TX (myFOXaustin.com) - The City of San Marcos is launching a program on Thursday, Oct. 29 that will provide residents with discounts on prescription drugs. The city will offer a free prescription drug discount card to all residents.
The City is making the free discount cards available at city offices through a program sponsored by the National League of Cities (NLC). The discount cards offer city resident’s average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs.
“The City of San Marcos is pleased to work with the National League of Cities and participating pharmacies to help reduce the cost of prescription medicines,” said Mayor Susan Narvaiz. “Many residents will benefit from this program, especially if their prescriptions are not covered by insurance.”
The discount cards may be used by all residents of San Marcos and has no restrictions based on the resident’s age, income level, or existing health coverage.
Cards are available at city offices, including City Hall, Library, Grant Harris Jr., Building, Electric Utility, Women Infants and Children, Activity Center and Public Services buildings. City residents can call toll-free 1-888-620-1749 or visit www.caremark.com/nlc for information about the program.
San Marcos residents only have to show their card when purchasing medication at one of the many participating pharmacies.
