Motorcyclist Dies in Overnight Accident

AUSTIN, TX - Austin Police are investigating a traffic fatality that happened early Thursday morning at 51st Street and Springdale Road.
According to police, a Mazda ran a red light at Springdale Road and t-boned a motorcycle that was traveling west on 51st Street. The cyclist was transported to Brackenridge Hospital with massive head and leg injuries. It is unknown if the cyclist was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Mazda has been identified as 33-year-old Rudy Ramon Lucero. Lucero has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
