Austin Police Officers have safely returned a small child, who was found walking near the area of Allison Cove/ Sunridge Drive in south central Austin, to his family Friday morning.
Officers conducted an extensive door to door search Thursday night, but couldn't determine where the child lived. The child has a diminished mental capacity and was unable to provide the officers with any information. He was accompanied by a tan pug dog that possibly goes by the name of Chato. The child was placed in CPS custody while officers tried to locate his parents.
According to police, the mother left the child with some friends as she went to work her overnight shift on Thursday night. The boy slipped out of the house late Thursday night while the babysitter was sleeping to take his dog for a walk. That is when police found the boy wandering through the neighborhood. The mother returned home Friday morning to find her child was missing and contacted police, who returned the boy to his home.
