Longhorn and Aggie Space Race

AUSTIN - The rivalry Between University of Texas and Texas A&M has gone to space. The aerospace engineering department at UT has developed a new pico-satellite called Bevo-1.

The satellite will serve as a GPS device that will take GPS measurements and send them back to earth.   Texas A&M has created a similar device called Aggie Sat 1.

Both of the satellites will be connected to a NASA shuttle that will launch Saturday.

"We ran into a problem and there was a change in the requirements and we had to react to that problem." UT Student Henri Kjellberg said." We were able to react to that problem, and get two G-P-S antennas, while the Aggies were a little further along, and couldn't adapt to that problem. They weren't quite as agile"
