Police arrested two men after chasing their car through West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, and Austin. According to an arrest affidavit, the chase began after the men stole merchandise from a Blockbuster Video.

According to court documents, police received a call of a burglary of a Blockbuster Video on Capital of Texas Highway. The call said two Hispanic males stole items and left in a maroon SUV. Police located a vehicle matching that description and began a pursuit.

Police say the vehicle did not stop and headed east on Bee Caves Road. The suspects approached MoPac and entered the freeway. The chase continued along MoPac while the suspect drove between cars in an effort to avoid police. The car finally exited MoPac at Windsor and continued down the street.

The car finally came to a stop on 10 th Street and the driver ran out on foot. He ran through a neighborhood and knocked down a wooden fence. The driver was later caught after injuring his ankle. Police later identified the driver as Gabriel Molina. Molina was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police also arrested the passenger, Carlos Palacios, who stayed in the car. Palacios told police he was sleeping in the car and did not know police were chasing them.

Police also recovered nine DVDs in the back seat of the car that Blockbuster employees later confirmed were stolen.
