A Cedar Park hotel is taking big steps to go green. FOX 7’s Lauren Petrowski reports on the changes the owners of the La Quinta Inn and Suites are making in order to run a more eco-friendly business.
“We have solar panels in the parking lots which is the most visible thing for guests when they come in and we also feature the LED lights which are super high efficient,” said co-owner Pradip Mulii.
The hotel uses a 10x20 solar panel on the roof to heat the pool and hot tub. Metal posts have been installed on the roof so that eventually the entire hotel will run off solar panels.
There are also hook ups for electric cars in the parking lot.
In each of the rooms there's a sensor above the door so that during the summer months when a guest enters, the room will get a bit cooler, and when the guest leaves, the temperature will rise again a couple degrees.
