The husband and wife chef team of Amanda and Mike Joyner started their company Retro Bizzaro with the intention of recreating classing pastries. The pair tells FOX 7 that they strive to use local ingredients and products to help the Texas economy and environment.

"The whole point of Retro Bizzaro is not so much about reinventing classic pastries," explained Amanda Joyner. "Yes, that's part of it, but the Retro aspect is going back, knowing your community, knowing your farmers, not just buying local, but having a relationship with those farmers and actually going to see where your product comes from."

The company gets its eggs from nearby Vital Farms. The popcorn comes from Austin's Cornucopia. The honey they use is made by bees in Round Rock. The milk comes from North Texas cows. Pigs in southeast Texas provide their bacon.

The local ingredients have to travel shorter distances and therefore reduce pollution from the transportation process.

Retro Bizzaro and their Bizzaro Pops and all their other goodies can be found in East Austin every Sunday at the Hope Farmers Market. The owners say they hope that soon their products will be available in stores as well.
