Austin, TX - The search for a 1-year-old Boston Terrier named Hugo that was taken from a woman has led her on a path of heartache and guilt.
Joy Beth Meyers says she stopped at a Walgreens on East Riverside Monday afternoon to pick up something. She left her dog, Hugo, inside her car as she ran into the store.
What seemed like seconds later, Meyers emerged from the store and the car was gone -- and so was Hugo.
"It's such a huge loss," said Meyers.
Meyers has filed a police report with APD and started an intensive search for her dog. She has searched at local animal shelters, posted ads on Craigslist and even put up posters around her neighborhood in Southeast Austin.
The biggest mistake, Meyers says, was leaving her keys in her car.
"I realize it was thoughtless and irresponsible and I'm paying the price for it now," said Meyers. "I don't care about my car. I just want my dog back. He's my family."
If you have any information about Hugo, Joy Beth asks that you email her at jb5585@yahoo.com .
