On January 29, sections of the lower level of Interstate 35 will see periodic closures as TxDOT crews work to replace outdated rails on several downtown area bridges. The rail replacements will take place on the bridges at Cesar Chavez St, 11th and 12th Streets, Manor Rd, and 32nd and 38th Streets.
The north and southbound lower level, between Airport Blvd and MLK Blvd, will be closed alternately or simultaneously depending on the construction schedule, says TxDOT.
Construction is projected to last 54 working days, and will take place between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. Contractors will work on one side of the bridges at a time, leaving the opposite sidewalk open to pedestrian traffic.
