They backed up Buddy Holly, but for decades The Chirping Crickets got little credit for it. In fact, the men aren't even credited on Holly's album.
Two of the three crickets, John Pickering and Bob Lapham, are getting a little recognition 50 years after the plane crash that killed Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper.
They were honored at the Capitol today for their contributions to music history.
"We can't believe that we're here after, well, 52 years ago on July 13, 1957. We did 'Oh, boy,'" Pickering said.
"So it's been a long time coming, and we've had an interesting life in between," he said.
The resolution for The Crickets was sponsored by State Senator Robert Duncan from Buddy Holly's hometown of Lubbock.
