AUSITN, TX - Seton Medical Center has been named one of the most profitable hospitals in the country according to a report in Forbes magazine.
The report conducted by American Hospital Directory, is based on operating income figures that hospitals must report to the federal Medicare program each year.
Seton was ranked fifth among the top profitable hospitals with a $432 million net patient revenue and a operating margin of 34 percent. Other Texas hospitals topping the list were: Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso ranked second, Conroe Regional Medical Center ranked 16th, Medical Center of Plano ranked 17th, Medical City Hospital in Dallas ranked 19th and Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso ranked 23rd.

The Seton Family of Hospitals are non-profit organization that provides healthcare services in Central Texas, serving an 11-county population of 1.8 million. Ascension Health, based out of St. Louis, is the parent non-profit organization for Seton Medical Center. Their website list them as the largest not-for-profit health system in the United States, with a network of over 75 acute care, long-term care, and other healthcare facilities in 20 states and D.C.
