Austin, TX (myFOXaustin.com) - The Amazonia Tropical Fish and Aquarium store is trying to compete in these tough economic times, so they've decided to have a Topless Sale on Black Friday. According to a press release, the Amazonia will be having a fish happy hour from 7-10pm and topless sale.
The sales ploy is an effort to keep Austin Weird by hosting a unique Austin event. The store has recently moved to a new location on North I-35 and traffic has been slow.
"We decided the best way to sell more fish and aquariums is to turn into a TOPLESS store. Although we won't be selling booze customers can byob and ogle our .......... fish," according to store press release.
The owner, Caroline Estes, organized the topless protest in Austin during Mardi Gras 2001 and caused a "topless riot" on Sixth Street, demanding the police recognize citizen's right to go topless. Ms. Estes took it upon herself to organize a protest of topless folks. The tops came off on 6th Street and the group was promptly surrounded by 50 police clad in full riot gear.
Ms. Estes has once again decided to use two of her best assets to accomplish a goal. It is hoped that riot gear won't be needed to control the crowds in this topless action. The stores says they are looking to bring some excitement to Texas.
